Many students choose a major in science, such as life sciences, biomedical sciences, or biochemistry. However, any major is acceptable, including majors in the social sciences, humanities, and economics. Students should integrate their pharmacy school prerequisites into their core program with the help of their Senior Advisor and Pre-Professional Counselor. The proposed course sequence below is only a guideline for the timely completion of CMU`s mandatory courses. Courses to complete the major must be incorporated into the student`s schedule. In an ongoing effort to advance, expand and promote the practice of clinical pharmacy, the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences offers a structured program leading to the completion of the Master of Pharmacy (M. Pharm – Clinical Pharmacy). This Mr. Pharm program prepares students with specialized knowledge and skills to assume their role in pharmaceutical care. The clinical pharmacy component is located at Penang Hospital and Seberang Jaya Hospital, where clinicians are also involved in collaborative projects on drug metabolism, bioavailability and pharmacokinetics. It is NOT an academic, minor or major major. Each pharmacy school has its own deadlines, but the deadline for the early decision program is usually early September. The deadline for submitting PharmCAS applications is March 1 for regular admission. All materials must be received by March 1st if you are applying to Ole Miss, but it is best to apply well in advance of the deadline due to current admission guidelines from some schools.

Some students already have a B.A. or B.S. or higher and choose to become pharmacists. It is recommended that these students visit the pre-professional office for further guidance. It is common for these students to take their missing prerequisite courses for pharmacy school here at USM as post-bachelor`s students, while working on other non-course requirements, preparing and taking the PCAT, and then applying to pharmacy schools.
